Zonal Review Workshop of Farmer FIRST Organized

A review workshop of Farmer FIRST project for eight institutes from Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha state under ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata and Patna was held at ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata on 21st August, 2017 at 10.30 AM under the Chairmanship of Dr. A. K. Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BAU, Sabour, Bhagalpur. Among other dignitaries, Dr. S. S. Singh, Director, ATARI Kolkata; Dr. Anjani Kumar, Director, ATARI Patna; Dr. Vishal Nath, Director, NRC on Litchi, Dr. P. K. Roul, Dean Extension Education, OUAT, Bhubaneswar were present. The meeting was also attended by PIs /Co-PIs of concerned Institutes of two zones and scientists of ATARI, Kolkata. In his Chairman’s remark, Dr. A. K. Singh expressed the importance of undertaking baseline survey, developing fertility map and categorizing the farmers’ income group in the project area. State specific issues related to Farmer FIRST were flagged by the respective representatives and progress of the project was critically reviewed in addition to fine tuning of the future Action Plan during the workshop.

Earlier, Dr. S. S. Singh welcomed the dignitaries and delegates, and highlighted the importance of such workshop in view of the national thrust on doubling farmers’ income.

The session ended with formal vote of thanks to the Chair.
