Proceedings of the meeting of the committee to prepare ‘Inventory of agricultural technologies for West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands’.
As discussed and decided by the competent authority in the recently concluded meeting of ICAR Regional Committee No.II a committee was constituted to prepare ‘Inventory of agricultural technologies for West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands’.
Terms of reference of the committee are-
- To collate the transferrable agricultural technologies available with the SAUs/ICAR Institutes
- To edit and compile the information in a form easily understandable by the farmers
- To bring out an Inventory of agricultural technologies for West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands
The first meeting of the committee was held under the chairmanship of Dr Biswapati Mandal, Pro-VC, BCKV, Mohanpur at the Zonal Project Directorate, Zone II, Kolkata at 11.00 hrs on 19July 2014. The meeting was attended by –

Dr Biwsapati Mandal, Chairman briefed the members about the purpose. He also appreciated the efforts of Dr A K Singh, Zonal Project Director, Zone II, Kolkata in this regard. Dr Mandal made it clear that the assignment of the committee is to develop an uniform format; gather inputs from University/Institutes and to compile it. Dr P P Pal, Principal Scientist , ZPD formally welcomed the Chairman and the members. Dr H K De, Principal Scientist, ZPD presented a few formats adopted by NIRJAFT; CIFA; CIBA etc. He also circulated a recent compilation on Agricultural Technologies published by the ICAR.
The Chairman sought the opinion of the members about the uniform format. After lot of deliberation the format is finalized. Technology profile would be of one page only having information on the following heads-
- Domain-
- Title of the technology – technology developed by the SAUs/ICAR Institutes
- Technology brief ( with 2 images)
- Scope (applicability for agroclimatic zone)
- Cost
- Benefit
- Source (complete contact address)
For editing the domain specific technology profile the following subcommittees were made –

Other decisions taken in the meeting-
- Contact details (Phone/email of the members) should be sent to ZPD by the Concerned SAU/Instt. within a week.
- ZPD will write to VC/Directors of ICAR Institutes inviting inputs marking a copy to Head/Scientist in Charge of Regional Stations located in West Bengal. A copy of the proceedings would be annexed
- Inputs from SAU/Instt must reach ZPD within a month
- In next 15 days time domain specific Committees would finalize the tech. profile
