GOVERNOR OF JHARKHAND APPRICIATED THE WORKS OF KVK GUMLA

Her Excellency Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand state, Smt. Draupadi Murmu paid a visit to KVK Gumla farm, Salam Nawatoli on 23.07.2015. The farm housed 32 technologies including high density orchards of guava, mango and tissue cultured banana, micro irrigation, scrreening of crop varieties, semialata cultivation and many more impressed Her Excellency to observe that government machinery needs to involve the farmers not only for participatory farm management but also acting as social fencing. She stressed on the need to develop more number of low cost agricultural technologies and marketing avenues for the small and marginal land holders. She also highlighted the need to educate farmers in achieving sustainability both in farming and profit making. Other programmes organized during the day were planting of mango tree, interaction with more than 200 farmers and farm-women and KVK scientists. The day was also observed as ‘Nari Shakti Diwas’ where more than 5000 farm women and SHG members took part. More than 5000 number of mango saplings were made available to the farmers on that day. Hon’ble Speaker of Jharkhand Bidhan Sabha, Dr. Dinesh Oraon, Secretary, Vikash Bharti, Padamshree Ashok Bhagat, Programme Coordinator of KVK Gumla and all other staff of the organization as well as KVK were present on that day.
