Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of CISH – Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Malda

Foundation stone laying ceremony of CISH-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malda was held on January 21, 2017 at ICAR-CISH Regional Research Station, Malda, West Bengal. The foundation stone was laid by Dr. A. K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension & Horticulture) in presence of Swami Viswamayananda Ji (Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Sargachi), Dr. Randhir Singh, Assistant Director General (Agricultural Extension), Dr. P. K. Chakrabarty, Assistant Director General (PP&B), Prof. S. K. Mitra, Former Dean, BCKV, Mohanpur, Dr. S. K. Roy, Director, ICAR-ATARI Kolkata, Dr. S. Rajan, Director, ICAR-CISH, Lucknow, Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore, Dr. R. K. Thakur, Project Coordinator (AICRP on Honey Bee & Pollinators, IARI) and other dignitaries.

While welcoming the Chief Guest and dignitaries Dr. S. Rajan, Director, ICAR-CISH, Lucknow highlighted the achievements of ICAR-CISH, Lucknow and future plan of work of ICAR-CISH-Regional Research Station and CISH – Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malda. Swami Viswamayananda Ji stressed upon development of human character for development of agriculture and horticulture.

Dr. A. K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension & Horticulture) emphasized the importance of the new CISH- KVK and its possible role and services for wellbeing of farming community. He also expressed his satisfaction and happiness by seeing the huge gathering of tribal woman farmers and other growers as about 850 farmers (including 550 tribal famers) attended the programme. He categorically mentioned that CISH may play important role in tribal development programme being implemented at various villages. Dr. Randhir Singh, ADG (Agricultural Extension) and Dr. P. K. Chakrabarty, ADG (PP&B) highlighted the importance of technology dissemination and plant protection measures for sustainable crop yield. Prof. S. K. Mitra briefed about importance of horticulture for improving socio-economic status of farming community. Dr. S. K. Roy also emphasized the importance of technology dissemination for doubling the farmers’ income.

Inauguration of Seed Hub for Pulses and Rabi Krishi Mela cum Adibasi Kishan Sammelan were also organized during the occasion.

Dr. Dipak Nayak (Scientist In-charge, ICAR-CISH Regional Research Station, Malda) coordinated the programme and proposed vote of thanks.
